Hamish Scott was born in 1948 in Glasgow, where his parents lived and he attended Glasgow Academy. He went on to study Mathematics at Cam-bridge University and returned to Glasgow where he pursued a career in the life insurance industry with Scottish Mutual, retiring in 2009.
In the same year he was appointed by The General Assembly as an Employer Nominated Trustee for the Church of Scotland Pension Schemes, where he chairs the Risk Group.
Hamish is married to ‘Stina and they have four children and three grandchildren.
He is a Fellow of The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (1977) and gained board experience serving on the Faculty Council (4 years) and Exam Board (4 years). He was also an assistant editor of the British Actuarial Journal.
Hamish is a member of New Kilpatrick Parish Church, and has served as an elder in previous congregations, Session Clerk (17 years), and Congregational Treasurer (4 years).
Otherwise Hamish has a keen interest in lowland walking, keeping abreast of the news and gardening.
