Singers invited to Stockbridge church for Songs of Praise recording
Published on 25 July, 2017
Songs of Praise, the popular BBC One programme, will be visiting Stockbridge Church in Edinburgh on 4 August to record a selection of hymns for use in future episodes.
Producer Karen Hannah said individual singers and groups from churches are invited to apply.
“Songs of Praise has been championing Christian music for over 55 years and continues to be enormously popular,” Ms Hannah said.
“For this to continue into the future we need the participation of people like yourself and so we’d be grateful if you could encourage others to take part.
“We are especially keen for enthusiastic singers to join us, as they will become a specially-formed massed choir, who will lead the viewers at home in the singing.”
To apply to sing in the programme, send an email to SOPcongregations@avantimedia.tv with the subject line Edinburgh Recording.
Your email should include your name, the name of your church and the number of singers who plan to attend. Keen singers should include their voice parts (Soprano, Alto, Tenor or Baritone).
Stockbridge minister Rev John Cowie said his congregation will do everything they can to make the evening enjoyable for everyone who takes part.
“We are delighted that they are coming to us and we hope and pray that we will sing and share our faith with joyful enthusiasm. This should be a lovely evening of song and we will be happy to welcome singers who want to be part of the choir.”
The deadline to apply is Tuesday 1 August.
If you have any questions you can email the programme producers or call 07704 202409.
The event will be recorded on Friday 4 Aug. from 7pm – 10pm at Stockbridge Church, 7b Saxe Coburg Street, EH3 5BN
