'Pause with Pancakes' aims to bring people together on Shrove Tuesday to make and share pancakes, as they reflect on the Easter message and help raise funds for the vital work of Christian Aid.

Supporters hope that people will enjoy ‘Pause with Pancakes’ so much they will adopt it as their new Shrove Tuesday tradition.

Rt. Rev Dr. Russell Barr, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland said:

“‘Pause with Pancakes’ offers a fantastic opportunity for people to get together at their church, school or youth group, make pancakes and reflect on the Lent journey to Easter whilst also raising funds for the world’s poorest people.

“Furthermore, I am delighted to support the Christian Aid Scotland organised ‘Pause with Pancakes’ event which will be taking place at Gorbals Parish Church in Glasgow on Shrove Tuesday”.

Christian Aid Scotland plans to launch ‘Pause with Pancakes’ at the Gorbals Parish Church, Glasgow on the 28th February at 4pm. Everyone is welcome to attend the event.

Sally Foster-Fulton, Head of Christian Aid Scotland, said:

“This year’s appeal focuses on our work in South Sudan, where years of civil war has left 6.1 million people needing immediate humanitarian assistance.

“We’re working with local partners to provide much needed food, safe water to drink and sanitation facilities.

“We are also providing fishing hooks and nets so they can start to rebuild their lives and become self-sufficient”.
