World Week for Peace in Palestine and Israel
Take part in the annual World Week for Peace in Palestine and Israel 2019 on 15 – 22 September .
The Church of Scotland is part of an ecumenical UK Working Group for WWPPI, and is currently working to produce materials for use during the week. This year, the theme is Humanity and equality in God’s creation.
The WWPPI is a time when people of faith are encouraged to make a common witness through services, educational events and acts that support peace and justice for Israelis and Palestinians, and we would like to encourage you to hold something like this in your church.
Resources can be found on the Pax Christi web page. They have been designed to help you put on a WWPPI service at your church.
You can also use video during your service.
This is the story of Noa Gur Golan, a young Israeli woman who became a conscientious objector.
There are more videos to choose from here:
- My Name is Sahel - the story of a boy's journey to and from school
- Just Like Us - a film about young people in schools in Nazareth
- Noam Shuster - 'How to Build Peace in Palestine / Israel
- Ameer Sarhan, Leen abn Ajamiyyen - from the Lutheran School in Ramallah
The World Council of Churches has also produced some materials you may find useful.
Please do get in touch if you would like to hold an event, we will be able to support you in the planning and help you publicise it through our weekly email Update and the World Mission Facebook page.
