Gordon Taylor
Born in St Andrews, Gordon returned to his family's roots in Edinburgh for university studies, where he graduated in law in 1992. He trained with Dundas & Wilson and, after qualifying as a lawyer, worked in private practice with Shepherd + Wedderburn in their Corporate Department. An in-house career then beckoned and he joined Baillie Gifford, the investment managers, as a senior lawyer, working there for some 20 years, latterly focussing on funds and derivatives work. A Member Nominated Trustee of the Baillie Gifford DB Scheme, he was appointed its Chair in 2018, sits on its Investment Committee and also chairs its Administration Committee.
Gordon has passed his trustee exams en route to becoming a professional independent pension trustee and is a member of the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association's Scotland forum.
Outside of work, Gordon is a keen gym attender and makes good use of his Wattbike in the conservatory at home. An "enthusiastic" golfer, Gordon also sings in a community choir and has reawakened his interest in scuba-diving after a long absence from the deep.
