Elders Conference 2020: Eldership in Times of Change
A Learn Eldership training event that will inspire, connect, and equip current and future elders in the Church of Scotland in times of change.
The conference will look at today’s eldership in relation to Christian leadership and discipleship as well as exploring ways that elders could serve congregations faithfully with discernment in this time of change.
Seven selected themes on office bearers will be discussed:
- Eldership in a contemporary world
- The role of session clerk
- Being a trustee in the Kirk
- Being an elder in small congregations
- Eldership when your kirk is in vacancy
- The invisible church
- The Radical Action Plan
Seven areas of the church ministry will be explored:
- Faith formation
- Pastoral care
- Serving in community
- Sharing faith
- Fresh expressions
There will also be a marketplace introducing the new forums of the Church of Scotland and its Radical Action Plan as well as various organisations.

Date and time
The conference begins at 5 p.m. on Friday 25 September and concludes at 2 p.m. on Sunday 27 September.
