Rev Professor John Swinton - Chalmers Lecturers 2024
Being present: finding friendship in a ‘hopeless’ world.
The lectures in this series will tackle modern issues like social isolation, digital distraction, and uncertainty about the world's future. They will provide a faith-based viewpoint on finding purpose and connection in a world that frequently seems broken and hopeless. By the end of the course, participants will have developed a deeper understanding of presence, friendship, and hope from a theological perspective, as well as valuable strategies for putting these ideas into practice in their daily lives and communities. The talks are meant to encourage a fresh sense of direction, closer bonds with others, and a more realistic, upbeat view of faith in the face of adversity.
