Scottish Churches China Group Autumn Plenary
Celebrating ecumenical partnerships in China in health & education. Wendy Alexander is our guest speaker: 'From Shenyang to Scotland & Back'.
About this event
We are delighted to welcome Wendy Alexander as our Plenary speaker. Wendy is Vice-Principal (International) at Dundee University, and leads the University's international strategy and engagement. She has a strong family history of involvement in China through the former Christian Medical Missionary Hospital in Shenyang, which was founded by Scottish missionaries in 1883 and is currently involved with a group setting up a permanent museum at the hospital. Her plenary talk for us today is: ‘From Shenyang to Scotland and Back: Connections Old and New’.
Our Plenary will also provide an opportunity to find out more about the projects we are involved in with our partners in China. These are varied and range from projects supporting children with additional support needs, to projects which help train medical staff involved in palliative and end-of-life care. We have also been closely involved recently in building staff skills in China for the support of elderly people with dementia. All of our work exists as a response to requests from Chinese partners.
