Trinity College COP26 – Faith Hope & Climate Change
A series of free weekly events in the run-up to COP26 in Glasgow.
The United Nations Climate Change Conference COP26 is coming to Scotland’s largest city, Glasgow, in November 2021. Trinity College is the Church of Scotland’s College at the University of Glasgow and we are inviting Church Groups from any denomination across the UK and Ireland to join our FREE 7-week countdown to COP26 Course, “Faith, Hope + Climate Change.”
Already, world leaders are being challenged on the commitments they will make in The Glasgow Statement. Why not use part of your 2021 home group, youth group, or bible study group programme to join with others across the UK and Ireland in listening for God’s call to our churches as we face up to the Climate Emergency?
Introduction to the Course
The theme of COP26 is “together for our planet.” For many Christians this is an important and much anticipated event. We are called to fulfil our duty of care towards the world God loves, the creation which God called “good,” and toward every living thing. “Faith, Hope + Climate change” offers churches and faith groups the chance to work and learn together as we prepare to meet this challenge. Every Wednesday evening, we will begin with a short act of worship led by friends from groups working to address the climate emergency. We will listen to a series of inspirational speakers who are experts in helping churches respond to climate change. The second half of each evening is when your group can get involved through three innovative action tracks – on worship, art and activism – in which experienced group leaders will inspire you and support you over the 7 weeks so that you can take action in creative and prophetic ways in your own local church and community.
When is the course running?
This course will run online for seven weeks, every Wednesday from 15th Sept to 27th Oct 2021 from 7–9pm BST.
The course is FREE. If you, your church or organisation want to make a donation towards the course costs, there will be an opportunity to do so.
