Coming soon: Kirk roadshows on future of the Church
Published on 28 July, 2016
Kirk leaders are going ‘On the Road’ this autumn to offer congregations across Scotland an opportunity to voice their opinions about the future direction of the Church of Scotland.
Commissioners at the 2016 General Assembly approved the roadshow plan so that as many church members as possible can weigh in on the Church's future.
‘On the Road’ will visit 15 different places across the length and breadth the country, bringing information about the challenges facing the Church nationally, sharing new ideas and stimulating discussion about the future shape of the Church, its ministry and its discipleship.
“We want the whole church to come and be a part of this,” said Rev Dr Martin Scott, Secretary of the Council of Assembly.
“These events will give us the opportunity to listen and respond to the thinking, experience and questions of participants from local congregations all over Scotland.
“We are very excited to be meeting with people to present and listen to feedback on new ideas about ministry and leadership in the Church. We hope by doing this, it will allow us to inform the ongoing effort to plan more coherently and strategically for the future mission and ministry of the Church.”
