Advent Day 11: An Advent message from Richmond's Hope
Published on 11 December 2019
To mark the eleventh day of Advent, we are highlighting the wonderful work of Richmond’s Hope, a charity that provides support for children and young people aged 4-18 years old who have been bereaved.
The charity provides a safe space for children to work through their grief both verbally and non-verbally, to preserve memories of the person who died, to explore their feelings, to learn about coping strategies and to understand the impact the bereavement has had on their lives.
In the video, three children (Zara, 8, Billie, 6, and Ruairidh, 11) who have used the service share how their bereavement has changed the shape of their Christmas.
Rev Tara Granados, the minister at Ibrox Parish Church and a Trustee of Richmond’s Hope, is also featured.
Tara’s church is just one of the churches who have partnered with the charity, which was co-founded by fellow Church of Scotland minister Rev Liz Henderson of Richmond Craigmillar Parish Church in Edinburgh.
‘A special Christmas bauble’
A big thank you to the Richmond’s Hope team for putting together this lovely Christmas message for us to share in our Advent calendar.
