A prayer for the fourth Sunday in Advent by Rev Ruth Kennedy

An Advent prayer by Rev Ruth Kennedy, Minister at Sanctuary First and Digital Ministries Advisor, as we mark the fourth Sunday of Advent.
Holy God, too wonderful for our humble and poor words and yet, who loves to hear them anyway.
We come with a smile emerging across our faces,
the oil of gladness flowing a little thicker through our hearts,
thoughts of celebration becoming firmer in our minds,
and the depth of your love growing richer in our very souls as our advent journey finds its' home.
Just as Mary knew the pains through her body meant the moment of meeting the Son of God was here,
so we know the unfurling of hope, peace, joy and love means every moment is met with the fullness of joy in Jesus.
Just as the angel said.
Wonderful counsellor, as your glory covers the earth,
cover those who are afraid in your peace.
Let compassion and care be a warm blanket for hearts and bodies.
Bring more of your tender light to dark minds and places shining hope and life,
for this is good news bringing great joy to all the people.
Just as your angel said.
That first Christmas morning came and went and now we live in what the angels said, what Your angels sung.
Jesus Christ our Lord;
our source of joy, the giver of peace and outrageous grace.
Hallelujah, you are with us.
Just as your name says.
Emmanuel.
Holy Spirit continually fill us so we overflow in hope by your power,
sharing the joy and love of Jesus with everyone we meet.
In whom we live and breathe and have our very being, and pray.
Amen.
