The 'Word of God' is recognised in actual experience because it does something to anyone who really 'hears' it"
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me."
These shocking words told the disciples that what they held dear would change irrevocably. We are all called to define how we live, in the light of Holy Week and its traumatic, life altering and faith challenging events, but as Shelly Rambo says, the Church and those who live with trauma are called to be witnesses of the event, not only to recall it, but keep it real .
For people who are traumatised, resolution sometimes seems unreachable, and life is held in that Holy Saturday moment of now, but not yet.
"In a society that denies human frailty and vulnerability 'wounded storytellers' witness to others that whilst life events are often brutal and unpredictable a 'story can be told that binds contingent events together in a life that has moral necessity"
It is the Christian high calling to walk in the aftermath of the Cross, to live with it, perhaps not comfortably, but creatively, so that we may learn to live with trauma, and still be functional, still find it in our hearts, even deep within to praise God, and not allow what we experience to destroy those whom Jesus came to save.
