Poverty in Scotland – can the Minimum Income Guarantee help?
Come and join us as we discuss an innovative new policy that could help address poverty in Scotland. The General Assembly will be asked to consider a deliverance about Minimum Income Guarantee as part of Tuesday's Faith Action business. This exciting new proposal aims to ensure every household in Scotland has enough to live on through a range of measures. The event will unpack the key elements of the policy, and discuss how it could promote dignity and provide fairer opportunities, making a difference to the lives of people experiencing poverty.
We will be learning from a mixed panel, including experts on the Minimum Income Guarantee, people with lived experience of poverty, and campaigners within the Church. Come to explore and discuss the policy before Tuesday's vote, and discover ways that churches can become involved in advocating for a more fair and just Scotland.
Lunch will be provided. This event is hosted by the Priority Areas team and Public Life and Social Justice Programme Group.

Meet the Risktakers of the Persecuted Church
Open Doors originated in 1955, when a young Dutchman started smuggling Bibles to the persecuted church in Communist Europe. He became known as Brother Andrew, and his work led to more than six decades of support for the persecuted church. Every day, millions of Christians risk their lives to follow Jesus. In more than 70 countries, Open Doors supports them by supplying Bibles, providing emergency relief and helping persecuted believers stand strong for the long-term. In Scotland, Open Doors helps the church to pray, give and speak out for those who share our faith but not our freedom. Come and learn about current trends in persecution and share in stories of the risktakers who follow Jesus in the most difficult places.

Finding Our Voice
Neil Glover, minister and Convener of Seeds for Growth, will be launching his new book "Finding Our Voice - Searching for Renewal in the Mainline Church". For decades, mainline churches such as the Church of Scotland have observed their numbers falling, with every proposed solution failing to reverse the tide. We have removed our pews, merged with our neighbours, reformed our Presbyteries, and tried copying the methods of larger, apparently successful congregations; yet still our numbers decline. "Finding Our Voice" goes in search of some deeper causes; and more importantly, identifies some of the moves which might enable mainline churches to be renewed. With a panel of Neil Glover, Sally Foster-Fulton, Doug Gay and Jen Robertson, you are invited to lunch and the launch.

Individuals, congregations and Presbyteries are able to access support through mediation, facilitated conversations, coaching and a set training programme. We aim to support individuals to reach their potential as peacemakers so that every Kirk can be a place for hope in their community.
