Arranging the funeral yourself
Arranging the funeral yourself
Most people use a funeral director, though you can arrange a funeral yourself.
A funeral you arrange yourself can be more personal and less expensive. You'll have to organise more things yourself, like making arrangements with a cemetery or crematorium.
Contact your local council for advice on arranging a funeral, buying burial plots, crematorium services and dealing with funeral costs.
Buying a coffin
You can buy a coffin from an undertaker or have one specially made. Some funeral directors can supply you a coffin and help deal with the paperwork.
If you're arranging a cremation yourself, make sure the coffin is suitable as not all materials are appropriate.
You can find out more online, or contact the Natural Death Centre for independent funeral advice.
